Frequently asked questions
Subscription & purchases
How do I restore my purchase or subscription on a new device?
Sign in with the same Apple ID you used for the purchase, then open Settings in Music Looper and tap Restore Purchases.
What is free and what needs Music Plus?
Core looping and practice tools, EQ & filters, video import and song analysis (sections, chords, key and tempo) are free. Music Plus adds the Mixer (stem separation), Apple Music songs, playback speed and pitch change, practice lists, video zoom, mirror and full screen, unlimited loops, imports, exports and recordings, and more – see the full list on our home page or in the app under Settings. New subscribers can start with a 2-week free trial.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: open the iOS Settings app, tap your name ▸ Subscriptions ▸ Music Looper. Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
Apple Music songs
Why don’t the Mixer, analysis or pitch change work with Apple Music songs?
You can play and loop Apple Music songs, but the app can’t open their actual audio file. Separating instruments, song analysis, pitch change, play-along recording, EQ and the most precise looping all need the audio file itself – so they’re available for your own imported audio files, not for Apple Music songs.
To unlock every feature for a song, import it as your own audio file from the Files app.
An Apple Music track won’t open.
Check that your Apple Music subscription is active and that you are signed in with the same Apple ID in the Music app. Opening Apple Music songs in Music Looper also requires an active Music Plus subscription.
Mixer & analysis
My stems are not appearing.
Separation runs in the background and you’ll get a notification when it’s ready – larger songs take longer. You can follow every job in Processing. Stems download automatically on Wi-Fi only; on cellular, tap the row in Processing to download now, or turn off Download audio over Wi-Fi only in Settings.
It says “Daily limit reached” for analysis.
Free song analysis has a daily limit. It resets the next day.
iCloud & devices
When does iCloud sync my songs and loops?
Songs, loops, groups and practices sync automatically through your iCloud account. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple ID on each device and iCloud is turned on for Music Looper. On a new device your songs arrive first (the library shows Restoring your library from iCloud…) and the audio files follow in the background. A song you open always loads right away.
Play Along recordings stay on the device where you made them – the practice setup syncs, the recorded audio doesn’t.
Where is my video on my other device?
Videos are stored only on the device where you added them – only the audio and your loops sync via iCloud. On another device, open the song’s ⋯ menu and choose Attach Video to add the same video there; Music Looper checks that its length matches the song. Settings ▸ Videos on This Device shows the space used and lets you remove videos.
How do I keep my recordings and videos safe?
Songs, loops, groups and practices are kept in your iCloud account. Play Along recordings and imported videos stay only on the device where you made or added them – they are not synced via iCloud. If a take or a video matters to you, export it or keep the original file (for example in Photos or Files), so a lost or replaced device doesn’t take it with it.
Music Looper doesn’t appear on my Apple Watch.
Open the Watch app on your iPhone and install Music Looper from the list of available apps. The watch is a remote: open the song, practice or metronome on your iPhone first and keep the iPhone nearby with Bluetooth on.
Recording & playback
Nothing is recorded in Play Along.
Music Looper needs microphone access – check it in the iOS Settings app under Music Looper. Use headphones for a clean take; on the speaker the backing track ends up in your recording.
Music from other apps stops when I play a song.
Turn on Play with other apps in Settings to keep it playing. Lock Screen and headphone controls are then unavailable.
Which file formats can I import?
Audio files in mp3, m4a and wav format, and videos from Photos or Files. If a file can’t be imported, the app offers to send us a short technical report so we can help.
