Slow down music without changing the pitch

Slow tricky passages down, then work back up to tempo.

Slow a passage down — or speed it up — without changing its pitch. Start slow enough to play it cleanly, then gradually increase the speed until you’re back at the original tempo.

Back to the original tempo: tap ↺ 1× next to the speed. Wherever you set a speed — on the song screen, in Play Along or in the practice settings — the slider also clicks into place at the original tempo with a light tap you can feel. Use the − and + buttons beside the slider for the smallest steps: 1 BPM, or 1% if the song has no BPM.

💡 Tip: A reliable recipe: begin at a speed where you can play it cleanly, and only bump it up by about 5% once you’ve played it correctly three times in a row.

💡 Tip: Push a passage faster than the original tempo for a few reps. When you drop back to normal speed it will feel easy — you’ve built a safety margin.
