Practicing with Apple Music songs

Why some features work differently for songs added from Apple Music.

You can play and loop Apple Music songs, but the app can’t open their actual audio file. Separating instruments, analysis, pitch change and the most precise looping all need the audio file itself — so they’re available for your own imported audio files, not for Apple Music songs.

  • Works with Apple Music: play, loop, speed practice and metronome.
  • Needs your own audio file: instrument separation (Mixer), song analysis, pitch change and pitch practice, and the most precise looping.

Play-along recording needs the audio file too, so it isn’t offered for Apple Music songs — the Play along row doesn’t appear in Practice for them.

EQ & Filters also need the audio file, so the EQ tab isn’t shown for Apple Music songs.

💡 Tip: To unlock every feature for a song, add it as your own audio file — import it from the Files app.
